On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November, Borgo Egnazia is glad to invite guests, high cuisine aficionados and outside visitors to two wine and culinary excellence events focusing on the precious labels by San Leonardo, the renowned and evocative estate from Vallagarina (Trento) where the marquises Guerrieri Gonzaga make their wine gems with strictly artisanal practices.

The first event takes on the refined form of a “Viv e Mang” tasting-dinner, an evening celebrating the blending of culinary and enological excellences at our gourmet restaurant Due Camini, an elegant yet simple scenario where wood, limestone and candles promote unforgettable experiences, not only for your palate. Here, on Saturday 25th November, our executive chef Domingo Schingaro will present a very special gourmet menu featuring dishes inspired by the Apulian tradition and made ad hoc for the evening. The recipes will be paired with a selection of San Leonardo wines by Giuseppe Cupertino, Borgo Egnazia’s wine experience manager. Among them, guests will taste a Sauvignon Vette, a Villa Gresti and the Grappa Stravecchia accompanying maître pâtissier Tiziano Mita’s desserts.

On the next day, Sunday 26th November, our Sala Egnazia will be the set of a vertical selection (vintage years 2011, 2007, 2005, 2000, 1999, 1997, 1994 and 1986) of San Leonardo, a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot varieties, the aromas, colours and flavours of which result from separate ageing in small durmast barrels before blending. Participants will have the chance to experience the strength of this red wine, whose unique character is a testimony to the beautiful land between the Trentino mountains and the Garda lake where its extraordinary grapes are grown. The testing will be held by Paolo Lauciani, official speaker of Fondazione Italiana Sommelier, which shares the event’s organization duties with Borgo Egnazia, and will feature a much relished appearance by Marquis Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga.
